Jump into Water Activities with Great Accessories

I love summer!!!  I surely do like the changing of the seasons, but there is nothing like the long days filled with sunshine, the windows open to let the fresh air in, and most of all going outside with shorts and flip flops. (I actually have a window sticker that says “Life is Better in Flip Flops“). There is also a free spiritedness that seems to come with summer.  We are open and longing for activities like fun in the sun with family and friends.  I feel like this season goes way to fast, but let’s embrace the time we have and fill it with awesome water activities.

Summer Water Fun

With hot days bearing down, water sports seem to be on everyone’s mind.  I love to spend time on the water and enjoy the refreshment to body and soul that comes with spending time on/in the water.

Water Fun Traditions

One of my favorite activities is kayaking. (If you haven’t checked out my kayaking post, it is a must read.)  On my birthday, just a few short weeks ago, I went out for my annual kayaking adventure with my daughter and dad.  My daughter and I took our kayaks and my dad took his canoe.  Before we knew it, we had spent two hours paddling around exploring and just enjoying talking, laughing and paddling together.  Kayaking is one of those sports that can be relatively inexpensive to get into.  Kayaks are not terribly expensive and there really isn’t too many other things you need.

First Main Accessory

I have a few accessories that I can’t live without whenever I go out to enjoy water sports of any kind.  Whenever I’m on the water, I want to have my cell phone close, but I don’t want to take the chance of it getting wet and wrecked.  This protective case is the perfect answer. (Check out the picture above, and you can see my daughter’s case). It keeps that water out in the event I would get wet.

Not only can you use it while you are boating, but it would be a great addition for a day at the beach or pool. Not only will it keep it protected from water, but also sand and any other elements you might come in contact with.  My whole family has gotten these and they are a must have when heading out.  You can have the security of having your phone for emergencies and just for photos, of course, but you know it will be safe from potential damage.

Second Accessory

Wearing my multipurpose aquatic shoes

Another one of my must haves are these multi-purpose aquatic shoes.  These shoes are perfect because they give great support to your feet, but they are able to handle whatever terrain you throw at them.  Because they are meant for outdoor adventure, they dry out really quickly.  If you are loading or unloading your kayak, canoe or boat, you may have to step in the water to assist in this process.  Well, if you have regular shoes on, you could get wet feet.  No one likes wet feet.  It really puts a damper on the trip.  By wearing these shoes, you can easily get your feet wet, if necessary, but know that you will have dry non-irritated feet in a hurry.  Because of their design, they are usable for all kinds of outdoor activities.  I have worn them for hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, or just hanging around by the campfire.  They are such a versatile shoe, and I would not be without them.

Third Accessory

Of course, the last important item for water sports is a good, comfortable life jacket.  Years ago, there were not many selections for life preservers, but that is no longer the case.  Life vests have been made in such a way that they are much more comfortable than they ever were before.  There is a huge selection to choose from and most of them dry really quickly if they get wet.  There are even some life jackets that inflate once you hit the water.  Since there is a plethora of choices, there is no reason you should be without one no matter your ability to swim.  You never know what situation you might get into that would hamper your ability to stay afloat.  Don’t take that chance and find a life jacket that you know you will wear.

Join Me in the Fun

Don’t let the summer escape you without getting out and enjoying some fun water activities.  Take my word for it, you will have fun and it will become a memory that will warm.  You never know, you might start an annual tradition as well. 😉
