As the seasons change, we get to enter another season of clothing as well.  With cooler temperatures awaiting us as we leave our doors, we get to open another door to a different section of our closets.  This leads us to warm sweaters and don’t forget the popular accessory–the scarf.  Now I know some of you might be saying, “I hate wearing things around my neck.”  Don’t give up on me quite yet.  I think you will be surprised at all the different ways a scarf can be used and it won’t be choking you. 😊

Did you know that September 27th is National Scarf Day?  Don’t feel bad, I didn’t either until just recently, but it got me thinking again about the whole drawer donated to scarves I have in my closet.  They are a great accessory for most outfits.  I have scarves that are thinner and can be worn when the weather is still a little warmer and you want to accessorize.  I have scarves that will add a bit of warmth when you are heading out on those crisp days, and I have scarves that are purely decorative.

The great thing about scarves is that they can serve multiple functions.  They can keep you warm if you need just a little something around your neck to keep the chill away, but they can accessorize an outfit without the need of additional jewelry.  The fun part of wearing scarves is that there are countless ways they can be worn.

Check out this video that gives you multiple fun ways to wear a scarf.  I know I found some new ways to try and they are not hard.  That is truly the bonus!

Now that you know how to create all different looks, let’s add to your collection of scarves so you can put into practice the new ways of wearing one. 1. I hear you. It was a great help to me as well. I tend to wear them only a few different ways as well. Can’t wait to give some of the new ways a try.

  1. I love all the different ways to wear them. It was a little too hot on September 27 to wear one but I will celebrate this day as soon as the cooler weather comes in.

    1. So true. They make so many different kinds of scarves now and with the fun ways to wear them it can really add to an outfit.

  2. I can honestly say that I do no own a scarf. After reading your post, though, I got to thinking about their many uses. I think a scarf would make the perfect portable pillow, and I could always use a good nap. I may find myself purchasing one now. It would have to be one of those thick ones though. I don’t think one of the thinner ones you mention would get the job done…. 🙂

  3. I guess I’m not very fashionable, becasue I’ve never thought much of scarves looking cute. I have only worn them for warmth. BUT I cnappreciatea cute scarf when I happen across one, though I don’t intentionally go out nd look for them 🙂

  4. Haha I didn’t know National Scarf Day existed! They have a day for everything now though, makes things fun. Scarves are cool, definitely should incorporate more into my wardrobe.

  5. I never wore scarves before going to Ireland on a trip. I brought one and it kept me warm so I wore it most of the trip and haven’t stopped since 🙂

  6. I love seeing outfits with scarfs. Always so cute. I haven’t worn them just cause I will lose them but 2020 is the year to try scarfs because it can also work as instant face mask as well. lol

    1. Good point. Scarves are so multi-purpose. Just love them. You’ll have to give it a try. Might be a highlight from 2020.

  7. I love the look of a scarf but can’t stand the feel of something around my neck. I’ll have to experiment with some of the styles here to see if any of them would be loose enough for me to actually wear it.

    1. I know a few people who struggle with things around their neck. I hope you can find some because there seemed like a few that give the neck a little more room to breathe. 🙂

    1. I know I use them to keep my neck warm during the winter as well. Helps keep warm and be stylish all at the same time. 🙂

    1. Thanks. I guess you probably don’t need to warm up for the winter. 🙂 Maybe you will have to try a thin one and try out one of those shawl type styles. 🙂

  8. I never knew there was a national scarf day! How fun. I have so many scarves and can’t wait until it cools down to pull them out.

    1. This week we are starting to get cooler. We are definitely entering scarf weather for sure. Enjoy your scarves! National Scarf Day was new for me too, but what a fun day to recognize.

  9. Oh yeah! I am ALL about scarves!! Sweaters, scarves, turtlenecks – my favorites. And, I had no clue there was a National Scarf Day. 👍

    1. I know. I tend to gravitate to scarves during the cooler months, but I do have a few lightweight ones I can through on when I don’t need so much warmth. They are just as fun.

    1. I was so happy when I found the video because I often would do only a few different ways of wearing them because I didn’t know of other styles. Glad you found it useful as well. Enjoy your scarves.

    1. Indeed. For me as well. The temperatures here went from summer weather this weekend to very cool fall weather this week. Here come the scarves.

  11. I absolutely love scarves. Have for years – even when they weren’t a fashion accessory. I have scarves that are over 30 years old! Enjoy wearing them all the time. Thanks for the post. It was fun to go through.

  12. Scarves are a light packing secret for me on trips…changes and outfit completely and takes up so little space. No one knows you have the same clothes after a spot clean on two days later at dinner.

    1. I bet that is a great way to change up and outfit without having a lot of other things to pack in. Great idea.
